The coyote is one of the most adaptable predators in north America. Vilified through the ages, the
coyote endures, populating city alleyways to remote deserts. An opportunist in nearly every way,
they can survive on the most meager rations of anything available, plant or animal. I remember in my
youth, late at night with covers pulled up to my chin, listening closely the haunting chorus and
yips as they conversed in the dark. In later years, I found a great respect for them. And although
we raised cattle, we never found proof that we lost a calf due to coyote attack.
